The Benefits of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a simple and relatively comfortable way to change the appearance of your teeth. Most often, the procedure is used to improve the condition of a discoloured or chipped tooth, but it can also be used to close gaps or change the shape of teeth.

The bonding process has a few advantages over options such as veneers, including a lower price tag and a shorter wait time. Sometimes bonding is used as a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings. White fillings aren’t just good for repairing cavities, they can also be used to change the colour and shape of teeth.

You don’t always need to replace a chipped or broken tooth, in some cases, dental bonding is all you need

The Procedure

Dental bonding takes about 30 to 60 minutes to complete per tooth. The first step of the procedure is a consultation where we select the composite resin that matches the colour of your teeth.

This is followed by the composite bonding process during which the surface of your tooth is roughened and a conditioning liquid is applied. When the tooth is prepared, the tooth-coloured resin is applied, molded and smoothed to the desired shape. A bright light or laser is then used to harden and set the material.
